I am currently working as an Assistant Team Server for Carnival Cruise Line. This role has provided me with invaluable experience of handling numerous guests from different walks of life in high pressure situations. Furthermore, the set-up is such that we work as a 3-man team in providing high end service in perfect harmony. As part of the operation, I have regularly acted as a lead server, supervising a team of 4 and ensuring we meet Carnival’s 5-star service standard. This experience has taught me how to: • Lead and train teams: I have trained junior waiters and new sign-on crew members on menu knowledge, POS systems, responsible service of alcohol, USPH cleaning/standards and last but not least, food allergies and dietary restrictions like vegan, gluten-free, halal and kosher protocols. I take pride in coaching staff to provide excellent service. • Deliver exceptional guest experience: I am skilled in menu engineering, food and wine pairings, and upselling to increase company revenue. More importantly, I handle guest complaints and special requests in real time. These include, anniversary and birthday celebrations to severe allergies ensuring every guest leave with a memorable experience. • Manage operations: I assist supervisors with inventory control, scheduling, adherence to procedure and daily reporting. My background of International Marketing from Chinhoyi University of Technology gives me a strong understanding of the importance of customer experience.
