Prairie Eye Care has applied for a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) and will be ready to extend an offer to a foreign worker once the application is approved.

Tasks

  • Administer eye drops, ointments and medications as directed by ophthalmologists
  • Assist health care professionals
  • Maintain prescription records
  • Operate ophthalmic testing and measuring instruments
  • Record test results and medications given by ophthalmologists
  • Clean and maintain equipment
  • Prepare and maintain equipment and supplies
  • Process claims such as health insurance or workers compensation
  • Maintain supplies
  • Maintain inventory of equipment
  • Perform general clerical duties
  • Process files and paperwork
  • Schedule and confirm appointments
  • Take patients' general medical and ophthalmic history
  • Manage routine office functions including reception, telephone and booking appointments
  • Organize and maintain inventory
  • Supervise or manage activities of other opticians or student opticians
  • Analyze the client’s eyeglasses or contact lenses and by measuring the client’s eye curvature, pupillary distance and bridge width, using optical measuring devices
